joint committees
Cross-chamber working groups
Joint committees are legislative bodies composed of members from both chambers of a bicameral legislature—in the U.S., from both the House and Senate.
They typically handle administrative matters, conduct studies, or oversee specific areas like taxation or the Library of Congress.
Unlike conference committees, which resolve differences between House and Senate versions of bills, joint committees are usually permanent.
