Jerry-building is the practice of constructing buildings quickly and cheaply, using inferior materials and shoddy workmanship.
The term implies structures that look acceptable but won't last—walls too thin, foundations too shallow, corners cut everywhere.
The whole development was jerry-building at its worst.
