hover effect
Mouseover visual change
A hover effect is a visual change that occurs when a cursor moves over an element on a screen—a button might change color, text might become underlined, or an image might enlarge slightly.
These effects signal interactivity, telling users that something is clickable: The hover effect on the menu items makes them glow blue.
On touchscreens, where there's no cursor to hover, the concept doesn't apply directly.
