hacky sacks

Toe-juggled beanbags

Hacky sacks are small, soft balls filled with sand or pellets, kicked to keep them aloft without using hands.

The game, also called footbag, became popular on college campuses in the 1970s and 1980s, often played in informal circles: We stood around kicking the hacky sack between classes.

Hacky Sack was originally a brand name that became generic.
