hacker collective
Cyber activist group
A hacker collective is a loosely organized group of computer hackers who collaborate on projects, often around shared ideological goals.
Some focus on exposing security vulnerabilities or promoting internet freedom; others engage in cyberattacks against governments or corporations.
Anonymous is the most famous example.
The term carries connotations of shadowy coordination and digital activism: The hacker collective claimed responsibility for leaking the company's internal documents.
