good question

Thought-provoking ask

A good question is one worth asking—because it's difficult to answer, reveals something important, or challenges assumptions.

The phrase often acknowledges that someone has raised a point the speaker hadn't considered or can't easily address: That's a good question—I'll have to think about it.

It can also buy time before answering.
