Not particularly macho
A girly man is a man perceived as weak, effeminate, or lacking traditional masculine toughness.
The term is dismissive and mocking, suggesting the target falls short of manly standards: Don't be such a girly man—just ask her out.
Popularized by a Saturday Night Live sketch parodying bodybuilders, it gained political currency when Arnold Schwarzenegger used it to taunt opponents.
