gaslightings
Psychological abuse tactics
Gaslightings are instances of psychological manipulation designed to make someone doubt their own perception or sanity.
The term comes from the 1944 film *Gaslight*, in which a husband dims the gas lights while denying any change, making his wife question her reality.
The therapist helped her recognize the gaslightings she'd endured throughout the marriage.
