gas guzzlers
Thirsty road vehicles
Gas guzzlers are vehicles with poor fuel efficiency—cars, trucks, or SUVs that consume large amounts of gasoline relative to distance traveled.
The term carries disapproval, criticizing both wastefulness and environmental impact: Those old muscle cars were real gas guzzlers.
The singular gas guzzler applies to any vehicle that drinks fuel.
