A friedcake is a small cake or piece of dough cooked in deep fat—a doughnut, cruller, or similar fried pastry.
The term is old-fashioned and regional, found mostly in parts of the American Northeast and Midwest: Grandma's friedcakes were always better than store-bought doughnuts.
