figure of fun
Object of ridicule
A figure of fun is someone who attracts ridicule or mockery, often without realizing it.
The phrase suggests a person whose appearance, behavior, or situation makes them an easy target for amusement: He became a figure of fun after the video went viral.
Unlike a laughingstock, a figure of fun may be treated with some affection alongside the derision.
