fern bar
Leafy upscale pub
A fern bar is a type of upscale casual bar or restaurant that became popular in the 1970s and 1980s, characterized by hanging plants, exposed brick, brass fixtures, and a singles-scene atmosphere.
The term often carries a mildly dismissive tone, suggesting a place more concerned with trendy décor than authenticity: The neighborhood dive got renovated into another fern bar.
