feral pigeons
Urban rock doves
Feral pigeons are domestic pigeons that have returned to living in the wild, typically in urban environments.
Descended from rock doves bred for food and message-carrying, they now populate cities worldwide, roosting on buildings and foraging in streets and parks.
Often called city pigeons or street pigeons, they're considered pests by some and urban wildlife by others: The feral pigeons gathered around the old man feeding them breadcrumbs.
