Fleshy auditory pendants
The ear lobes are the soft, fleshy lower portions of the outer ears.
Unlike the upper ear, they contain no cartilage.
Ear lobes are common sites for piercing and are sometimes tugged affectionately: She pulled his ear lobe playfully.
Some people have attached lobes that connect directly to the head; others have free-hanging lobes.
