durn
Mild rural curse
Durn is a mild euphemistic substitute for damn, used in rural American dialects: Durn it, I left the gate open.
Like dang and darn, it softens the oath while preserving its function as an expression of frustration or mild emphasis: That durn dog got into the chicken coop again.
