dry-erase

Wipes off cleanly

Dry-erase describes markers and surfaces designed to work together—the ink wipes off cleanly with a cloth or eraser, leaving no permanent mark.

A dry-erase board (or whiteboard) has a glossy surface; dry-erase markers use ink that doesn't bond to it.

The system replaced chalkboards in many offices and classrooms: We brainstormed on the dry-erase board.
