digital weapons
Malware and exploits
Digital weapons are software or code designed to damage, disrupt, or destroy computer systems, networks, or infrastructure.
The term covers everything from viruses and malware to sophisticated cyberweapons deployed by nation-states against power grids, financial systems, or military targets: Stuxnet was a digital weapon allegedly developed to sabotage Iran's nuclear program.
Unlike conventional weapons, digital weapons can spread unpredictably and be repurposed by others once deployed.
