crab spiders
Sideways-walking arachnids
Crab spiders are a family of spiders that walk sideways or backward like crabs, with front legs held wide to ambush prey.
Rather than spinning webs, they wait motionless on flowers or bark, often camouflaged to match their surroundings: A crab spider sat perfectly still on the yellow petal, invisible to passing bees.
