constipating
Slowing bowel movement
Constipating describes something that causes or tends to cause constipation—difficulty passing stool.
Certain foods, medications, and conditions are known to be constipating: Cheese and bananas can be constipating if you eat too much of them.
The word also sees figurative use for anything that blocks or impedes flow: The constipating effect of bureaucracy slowed the project to a crawl.
