candlestick telephone
Antique two-piece phone
A candlestick telephone is an early telephone design with a tall, narrow stand holding the mouthpiece and a separate earpiece on a cord—resembling a candlestick in shape.
Common from the 1890s through the 1930s, before one-piece handsets became standard.
Now mostly seen as antiques or period props: The detective's office had a candlestick telephone on the desk.
