browns out
Loses partial power
Browns out describes a partial loss of electrical power, when voltage drops but doesn't cut completely—lights dim, appliances struggle.
By extension, it applies to partial loss of consciousness or memory, less severe than blacking out: I didn't pass out, but I browned out for a minute there.
The term also describes deliberate power reductions by utilities during high demand.
