blind dates
Matchmaker's romantic arrangements
Blind dates are social meetings, typically romantic, between people who haven't met before, arranged by a mutual acquaintance or dating service.
The "blind" refers to going in without seeing—not knowing what to expect from the other person: My sister set me up on a blind date with her coworker.
The term applies both to the event and sometimes to the person: My blind date turned out to be charming.
