birth partner
Delivery room support
A birth partner is the person who supports a woman during labor and delivery—typically a spouse, partner, family member, or close friend.
The birth partner provides emotional support, physical comfort, and advocacy during childbirth: Her sister was her birth partner for all three deliveries.
The term is common in British English; Americans more often say labor coach or support person.
