best bets
Safest recommended choices
Best bets are recommendations for top choices—the options most likely to succeed or satisfy.
The phrase appears in entertainment guides listing recommended shows, restaurants, or events: Here are our best bets for the weekend.
It also means safest strategies: Your best bet is to arrive early.
The gambling origin survives in the confidence implied—these are the wagers worth making.
