always on display
Never hidden away
Always on display refers to a feature on smartphones and smartwatches that keeps basic information visible on the screen even when the device is in standby mode—typically the time, date, and notification icons.
The technology uses minimal power by displaying static content at reduced brightness: I can check the time without tapping my phone because of the always on display.
Often abbreviated AOD.
