alcohol flush
Drinking turns red
Alcohol flush is a reddening of the face and sometimes neck and chest that occurs in some people after drinking alcohol.
The reaction results from a genetic variant common in East Asian populations that impairs the body's ability to metabolize acetaldehyde, a toxic byproduct of alcohol.
Also called Asian flush or Asian glow: She gets alcohol flush after half a glass of wine.
