Thousand Island is a salad dressing made from mayonnaise, ketchup or chili sauce, and finely chopped pickles or relish, often with other ingredients like onion or hard-boiled egg.
The creamy, pinkish-orange dressing appears on salads and as a burger sauce: I'll have the Reuben with Thousand Island.
Named after the Thousand Islands region along the U.S.-Canada border.
