Sovietized

Brought under Moscow

Sovietized describes something that has been brought under Soviet-style communist control or influence—politically, economically, or culturally.

The term appeared during the Cold War era to describe countries or institutions forcibly reorganized along Soviet lines: Eastern Europe was rapidly Sovietized after World War II.

It can also describe the adoption of Soviet methods or ideology more broadly: The economy became increasingly Sovietized.
