Sam Malone

Sam Malone is the fictional bartender and owner of Cheers, the Boston bar in the long-running television sitcom of the same name.

A former Red Sox relief pitcher whose career ended due to alcoholism, Sam is charming, vain about his hair, and perpetually pursuing women—especially the intellectual Diane Chambers.

The character, played by Ted Danson, became an archetype of the lovable womanizer.
