PHEV
Chargeable hybrid car
PHEV stands for plug-in hybrid electric vehicle—a car that combines a conventional engine with a battery that can be charged from an external power source.
Unlike standard hybrids, PHEVs can run on electricity alone for meaningful distances before the gas engine kicks in: My PHEV gets about 40 miles on pure electric before switching to hybrid mode.
