Helter Skelter
In frantic disarray
Helter-skelter means in disorderly haste or confusion: People ran helter-skelter when the alarm sounded.
As an adjective, it describes chaotic or haphazard action: a helter-skelter rush for the exits.
In British English, a helter-skelter is also a spiral slide at a fairground.
The phrase gained dark associations after the 1969 Manson murders, where it was used as a term for an imagined apocalyptic race war.
