Biro
Ballpoint pen creator
Biro is a surname, most notably that of László Bíró, the Hungarian-Argentine journalist who invented the modern ballpoint pen in the 1930s.
His innovation—a ball bearing that rotated to spread quick-drying ink—solved the smearing problems of fountain pens.
The name became synonymous with the product in British English. (Lowercase biro is a ballpoint pen.)
