Baby New Year
Diaper-clad year symbol
Baby New Year is the personification of the coming year as an infant, typically depicted wearing a sash with the new year's numerals and sometimes a top hat.
The figure appears in New Year's imagery alongside Father Time, who represents the old year as an elderly man.
The contrast symbolizes the cycle of endings and beginnings: The baby New Year arrives as the old year departs.
