wife beaters
White ribbed tanks
Wife beaters is a derogatory term for men who physically abuse their wives or domestic partners.
The term also refers to sleeveless white undershirts—the association comes from a stereotype of the garment worn by abusive men in films and television: He answered the door in a stained wife beater.
The clothing sense is casual and mildly crude.
