untwined
Came apart, strands
Untwined means separated or unwound from a twisted or intertwined state.
Threads that were wound together become untwined when pulled apart.
The word works literally for rope, vines, or fingers, and figuratively for things conceptually linked: Their fates, once bound together, had slowly untwined over the years.
