unclimactic
Fizzles out weakly
Unclimactic describes something that fails to deliver an expected climax or satisfying conclusion.
An unclimactic ending disappoints because tension built up without adequate payoff: After all that buildup, the finale was surprisingly unclimactic.
Often confused with anticlimactic, which carries the same meaning but is the standard form.
