the fuck
Aggressive emphasis marker
The fuck is an intensifier inserted into questions to express anger, confusion, or disbelief: What the fuck is going on? , Who the fuck told you that? , Where the fuck have you been?
It amplifies the emotional charge of a question beyond what what, who, or where alone could carry.
Sometimes shortened to the hell in slightly less vulgar contexts.
