snow depth
Winter ground level
Snow depth is the vertical distance from the ground to the top of accumulated snow, measured at a single point in time.
Unlike snowfall, which tracks how much new snow has fallen, snow depth captures total accumulation accounting for settling, melting, and compaction: The snow depth reached three feet after a week of storms.
