smash cake
Infant's frosted victim
A smash cake is a small cake given to a baby, typically at a first birthday party, specifically for the child to destroy with their hands and face.
The mess is the point—parents photograph the baby grabbing fistfuls of frosting and smearing cake everywhere.
We ordered a smash cake for the party and a regular cake for the guests.
