serious face
No smile shown
A serious face is a deliberate expression conveying gravity, concentration, or lack of amusement.
People put on a serious face when situations call for solemnity or when they're trying not to laugh: I could barely keep a serious face during his speech.
The phrase often implies effort—maintaining composure when levity threatens.
