self-service laundry
Public washing facility
A self-service laundry is a commercial establishment where customers wash and dry their own clothes using coin-operated or card-operated machines.
Also called a laundromat, coin laundry, or washeteria.
The machines are typically larger and more industrial than home appliances: I spent Sunday afternoon at the self-service laundry doing three weeks' worth of clothes.
