rechained

Shackled once more

Rechained means chained again—restored to restraints after having been freed or loosened.

The word applies literally to prisoners or animals returned to bondage, and figuratively to anything bound anew after a period of liberty: The dog slipped its collar but was quickly rechained.

After a brief taste of freedom, she felt rechained to her old obligations.
