parbake

Bake, then pause

Parbake means to partially bake something, usually bread or pizza dough, so it can be finished later.

Commercial bakeries parbake loaves that consumers complete at home for fresh-from-the-oven results: The frozen pizza crust was parbaked, so it only needed ten minutes to finish.

The technique allows storage and shipping of products that would otherwise go stale.
