parallel plots
Simultaneous narrative threads
Parallel plots are two or more storylines that run alongside each other in a single work, often with different characters or settings but connected by theme, time, or eventual intersection.
The technique creates contrast, builds tension, or reveals how separate lives reflect each other: The novel weaves parallel plots following a mother in wartime and her daughter decades later.
