Narrow AI refers to artificial intelligence designed for a specific task or limited range of tasks, as opposed to general AI that would match human-level reasoning across domains.
A chess program, spam filter, or voice assistant is narrow AI—highly capable within its bounds but unable to transfer skills elsewhere.
Most existing AI systems are narrow: The image recognition is impressive, but it's still narrow AI—it can't do anything else.
