mousetrapping
Trapping website visitors
Mousetrapping is a deceptive web practice that traps visitors on a site, typically by disabling the back button, spawning pop-up windows when users try to leave, or redirecting them in loops.
The term comes from the one-way nature of a mousetrap—easy to enter, hard to escape.
Common on spam sites and aggressive advertising pages: I got mousetrapped on some sketchy download site and had to force-quit my browser.
