hexamer
Six-part molecular assembly
A hexamer is a molecule or structure composed of six subunits.
In chemistry and biochemistry, the term describes proteins, nucleic acids, or other compounds that form six-part complexes: Insulin is stored in the pancreas as a hexamer.
The prefix hex- indicates six, as in hexagon.
