favorite toy
Most cherished plaything
A favorite toy is a plaything a child prefers above others, often carried everywhere and worn soft from constant handling.
The attachment can be intense—a lost favorite toy is a household emergency.
Adults use the phrase figuratively for any prized possession or preferred diversion: That sports car is his favorite toy.
