defrost system
Windshield clearing mechanism
A defrost system removes frost or ice buildup from a surface—typically the windshield and windows of a vehicle, or the cooling coils of a refrigerator or freezer.
In cars, warm air or electric heating elements clear visibility.
In refrigeration, the system periodically melts accumulated frost to maintain efficiency: The defrost system kicks in automatically every few hours.
