confidentiality agreement
Legally binding silence
A confidentiality agreement is a legal contract requiring one or more parties to keep certain information secret.
Also called a nondisclosure agreement or NDA.
Common in business contexts—employees sign them to protect trade secrets, and parties to a lawsuit may sign them as part of a settlement: The confidentiality agreement prevents her from discussing the terms.
